Delete your BD Economist account
Last updated: September 12, 2026
What deleting does
Deleting your account removes the account itself and the data we hold about you: the email address and name from your sign-in, your saved views, alerts and preferences, and your subscription record. Once it is done you can no longer sign in, and it cannot be undone.
If you pay for a subscription through Google Play or the App Store, cancel it there as well — deleting your account does not cancel a subscription the store bills you for.
From the phone app
- Open the BD Econ Intelligence app and go to Settings.
- Scroll to the last section, marked Danger zone, and tap Delete Account.
- Confirm when asked. Your account is removed straight away and the app signs you out.
From the website, or if you cannot open the app
Email info@bdeconomist.com with the subject Delete my account, from the email address your account uses. We confirm the request with you, then remove the account and its data. The website's account page does not have a delete button yet, so email is the way to do it from the web.
How long it takes
Your personal details are erased as soon as the deletion goes through, and everything else tied to the account is removed within 30 days. Requests made by email are completed within 30 days of receipt.
Using the app without an account
If you chose Continue without an account in the phone app, there is nothing to delete on our side: guest mode stores nothing about you on our servers. The only thing kept is a single setting on your phone that remembers your choice, and leaving guest mode in Settings clears it. Uninstalling the app does the same.
