Retail gold in Bangladesh is priced off the rate sheet posted by the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS), quoted per bhori — the traditional unit of 11.664 grams — and by karat. Jewellers across the country price to this sheet, and it is revised whenever world gold prices or the taka–dollar rate move enough to warrant it.

The 22-karat rate is the headline figure most buyers watch. The posted rate is for the metal itself: VAT and making charges are added on top at the counter. Gold doubles as a household savings vehicle here, so the rate also tracks how families hedge against inflation and a weakening taka.
